Montague Eagles and Lady Eagles Deliver Strong Performances at Nocona Meet
The Montague Eagles and Lady Eagles traveled to Nocona High School on March 16th for their latest track meet, continuing to build momentum with impressive finishes, personal records, and multiple first-place victories.
The Montague Lady Eagles were once again led by standout distance runners Sage Keck and Kenzi McEwen. Keck had another dominant performance, placing 1st in all three of her events while setting new personal records in two. She ran 8:33.00 in the 2400m, 2:28.95 in the 800m, and 5:39.96 in the 1600m, showcasing her consistency and endurance across all distances.
McEwen also had an outstanding meet, taking 1st place in both of her events. She won the 2400m with a time of 10:44and set a new personal record in the 1600m with a time of 6:53.90, highlighting her continued growth as a distance runner.
Sprinter Jalena Rodriguez delivered a strong all-around performance, placing 2nd in all three of her events: the 100m (14.55), 200m (32.41), and 400m (1:12.20).
In the hurdles, Joanna Parr earned a 2nd-place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 22.21, continuing to be a key contributor for the Lady Eagles.
Madison Fomby showed versatility across events, placing 4th in shot put with a throw of 22’ 2.5”, 4th in the 200m (33.58), and 6th in the 100m (15.75).
For the Montague Eagles boys team, several athletes delivered standout performances across running and field events.
Distance standout Levi Newland mirrored Keck’s success, placing 1st in all three of his running events while achieving multiple personal records. He ran 8:32.00 in the 2400m, 2:28.71 in the 800m, and 5:24.10 in the 1600m, and also added a 4th-place finish in long jump (15’ 2.75”) to round out an impressive day.
On the field side, Hayden Hennessy added valuable points with a 5th-place finish in shot put (27’ 0.25”) and 4th in discus (64’).
Brazos Jones led the field events with a 1st-place finish in shot put (34’ 2.5”), 2nd in discus (77’11”), and also placed 6th in the 200m (29.33).
Teammate Aiden Chavez had a strong showing as well, earning 2nd in shot put (29’ 8.5”), 6th in discus (69’9”), and competing in the 800m for the first time, where he placed 6th (2:48.78).
Caiden Young contributed across multiple events, placing 2nd in the 200m (26.86), 3rd in the 100m (12.99), 3rd in discus (75’0”), and 5th in long jump (15’0”).
With numerous personal records, first-place finishes, and consistent performances across both teams, the Montague Eagles and Lady Eagles continue to show growth and determination as the season progresses.
