Montague Eagles Shine at Bowie Meet with Record-Breaking Performances
The Montague Eagles junior high track teams delivered an outstanding showing this week as they traveled to Bowie, bringing home multiple first-place finishes and an impressive number of new school records.
Leading the way was 7th grader Sage Keck, competing in the 8th grade division, who dominated the distance events by placing 1st in all three of her races while breaking school records in each. Keck captured gold in the 2400m run with a time of 8:39.32, followed by a winning 1600m performance of 5:36.41, and capped off her incredible day with another victory in the 800m (2:37.69). Her triple-record performance marked one of the most impressive individual meets in recent program history.
Levi Newland also etched his name into the record books with a remarkable performance in the boys distance events. Newland broke school records in all three races he competed in, finishing 2nd in the 2400m (8:53.40), 2nd in the 1600m (5:32.22), and claiming 1st place in the 800m with a time of 2:25.09.
Kenzi McEwen added to the Eagles’ success with a strong all-around performance, winning the 2400m (10:35.50), placing 3rd in the 1600m (6:47.12), and finishing 4th in the 400m (1:19.88).
In the hurdles, Cason Harris broke two school records with a time of 18.55 in the 110m hurdles (3rd place) and 48.97 in the 300m hurdles (3rd place), continuing the Eagles’ trend of record-setting performances.
The boys 4x100m relay team of Cutter Garrett, Cason Harris, Brazos Jones, and Caiden Young also made history by breaking the school record with a time of 53.66.
Several other Eagles contributed strong performances throughout the meet:

Brazos Jones placed 6th in his heat in the 100m (14.06) and 4th in his heat in the 200m (28.87).

Kyler Fomby finished 2nd in his heat in the 400m (1:17.38).

Caiden Young placed 4th in his heat in the 100m (13.44).

Jalena Rodriguez earned 4th in her heat in the 100m (14.96), 3rd in the 400m (1:13.57), and 2nd in the 200m (32.47).

Joanna Parr finished 5th overall in the 300m hurdles (1:14.98).

Hayden Hennessy placed 4th in his heat in the 100m (16.92).

Wade Hughes placed 6th in his heat in both the 100m (16.75) and 200m (37.45).

Cutter Garrett placed 2nd in his heat in the 100m (14.38) and 6th in the 200m (30.0).

Courtney Bobbitt finished 4th in her heat in the 100m (16.78).

Cayde placed 5th in her heat in the 100m (15.11).

Colt Garrett placed 2nd in his heat in the 200m (34.12).
With numerous personal bests, school records, and podium finishes, the Montague Eagles continue to show tremendous growth and competitiveness early in the season. Their next track meet is at Forestburg on March 5th.
